Gary L Wels

Gary L. Wels, age 56, of Mankato, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at his home from complications of cancer.

Memorial Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2005 at Mankato Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Barb Lindeman officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the mortuary on Friday.

Gary was born December 8, 1948 in Mankato to Lorenz and Ethel (Ray) Wels. Gary grew up in the Nicollet area, attended Nicollet School and graduated from Gibbon High School in 1966. Gary had worked for Paper Box Co. and for the last 23 years for Schmidt Siding and Window Co. in Mankato. He was a member of the North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, darts, softball, horseshoes, and bowling.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Wels of North Mankato, Mark (Julie) Wels of Mankato; a daughter, Angie Wels of North Mankato; six grandchildren, Ashley, Kristi, Tanner, Brandon, Dustin, and Morgan; his mother, Ethel Wels of Nicollet; two sisters, Joyce (Jack) Roberts of Jordan, Kathy Hartwig of North Mankato; a brother, Keith Wels of Huron, SD; nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 1996 and a brother-in-law, Don Hartwig.
