Retired homemaker, Viola Eleanor Carlson, age 87 of Mankato, died on June 25, 2005 at the Sunrise Cottages of Mankato.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church, East Chain, MN, with Rev. John Petersen officiating. Burial will be at the East Chain Evangelical Church Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before services at the Church on Wednesday.

Mrs. Carlson was born June 6, 1918 to Arthur and Adelia (Farm) Sisson in East Chain, MN. Viola graduated from East Chain High School. She married Arnold Carlson on April 9, 1938. They farmed in East Chain area until 1957, when they moved into East Chain and then to Fairmont. In 1991 they moved to Mankato. Her husband, Arnold passed away in 1993. Viola lived at Wilds of Sand Prairie in St. Peter for three years, and then moved to Sunrise Cottages in Mankato. She was a member of Evangelical Free Church of East Chain, MN.

Mrs. Carlson is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Jenkins-Meyer and her husband, Gary of Cleveland, Merrilee Oliphant and her husband, Glenn of White Bear Lake, MN; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Sisson of Antioch, IL and Lucinda Isenberg of Fairmont; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, her parents, brother, Victor Sisson, her sister, Edna Seger and a son-in-law, Richard Jenkins.
