Burton Keith Meyer, age 81, of Mankato, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Petersen and Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery in South Bend Township. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. TODAY at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Burton was born on April 25, 1924 in Everett, WA to Alfred and Florence (Larson) Meyer. At the age of 1, he and his parents moved back to Arco, MN. At the age of 14, the family moved to a farm near Balaton, MN. He graduated from Balaton High School in 1942. Burton was united in marriage to Ann Roberts on December 6, 1947 at the Welsh Presbyterian Church in Mankato. He and his wife farmed in the western part of Minnesota for about 12 years. During this time they had four children. In 1959, they moved from Slayton, MN to Tracy, MN where he operated the A & W Drive Inn. In 1966 the family moved to Mankato where Burton owned and operated Hilltop Drive Inn and the Bottle Shop. He retired in 1985 and they continued to live in Mankato. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Meyer; two sons and their wives, Ronald and Nancy Meyer of Deerwood, MN, Gerald and Debra Meyer of Great Falls, MT; two daughters and their husbands, Avis and William Boies of California, MO, Carol and Terrence Flynn of Red Wing, MN; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Skoog of Ortonville, MN, Audrey Mord and her husband, Bud of Wheaton, MN; nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Florence.
