Steven Steve Lee Schipp, age 56, of Mankato, died Monday, June 13, 2005 at his home.

Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Steve Kosberg, officiating. Visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour before services on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hosanna Lutheran Church or an organization of the donors choice.

Steve was born November 2, 1948 in Huntingburg, Indiana to LeRoy and Mary Jo (Boeglin) Schipp. He graduated from St. Meinrad Seminary in1966. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and a Master of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He moved to Minnesota in 1977 and was employed as a Rehabilitation Supervisor for the State of Minnesota. He married Annette E. (Carlson) Olsen on June 14, 1986 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Steve was an active member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato and served on the board of directors of SMILES. He also volunteered to work on the Appalachian Service Project. Steve enjoyed playing softball, and was a proud supporter of youth sports and activities. Steves hobbies and interests included reading, stained glass art, and tending to and nurturing his roses and a variety of indoor and outdoor plants. Steve will be remembered for his great sense of humor and sadly missed by many people including those with disabilities he has helped and befriended over the years.

Steve is survived by his wife, Annette; two sons, Nate Olsen and Andy Schipp all of Mankato; mother, Mary Jo Schipp of Ferdinand, IN; four brothers, George Schipp and his wife, Elaine of Ferdinand, IN, John Schipp and his wife, Sherri of Birdseye, IN, Jeff Schipp and his wife, Chris of Ferdinand, IN, Fred Schipp and his wife, Becky of Jasper, IN; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Schipp of Ferdinand, IN, Harriet Corki Luker and her husband, Bob of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; two brothers-in-law, Wally Carlson and his wife, Gladys of St. James, Chuck Carlson and his wife, Jackie of Richardson, TX; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy in 1979 and a brother, Bill in 2000.
