Harriet W. Tillman, age 88, died May 25, 2005 at the Mapleton Community Home. She was a resident of Mankato until 2001 when failing health made it necessary to move to Mapleton where she made her home with Melvin and Marian Moore.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. David Danner officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday all at Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mapleton Community Home Auxillary, ISJ Hospice Program, or to an organization of the donors choice.
Harriet was born April 13, 1917 in Lime Township, Blue Earth County to Edward and Lillian (Miller) Boehland. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1934 and from Mankato Commercial College in 1935. She married Elroy Tillman on June 21, 1938 in Mankato. Harriet worked as an accountant for Salet Department Stores and Continental Can. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a former clerk of Lime Township, member and editor of the 30-40 Club newspaper, Women of the Moose, the Elks Does Drove, Golden Eagles Senior Club, Golden Girls Birthday Club, Birthday Angels, Salet Keen Agers Club, Prime Timers, and 600 Bowling Club. Harriet enjoyed traveling, bowling, her clubs, family, friends, and her dogs, Tyrone, Vanna, and Buddy.
Harriet is survived by cousins, including Edith Herzberg of rural Good Thunder and Marian Moore of rural Mapleton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989.
