David Alan Noy, 58, of Vernon Center, left this world peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at home surrounded by family, following a five year courageous and valiant battle with lung cancer.

Dave's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at the Wellcome Memorial Gymnasium in Garden City. The 3:00 pm service will be officiated by Rev. Jean Sidner followed by a lunch and visitation from 4-9 pm. Burial will be private at a later date.

David was born May 28, 1952 to William and Shirley (Borneke) Noy in Mankato. He grew up on a farm west of Vernon Center. Dave attended school in Vernon Center before going to Garden City where he graduated with honors from Wellcome Memorial High School in 1970. After two years at the University of Minnesota where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, he came home to farm with his dad and later with his brother Bob.

David married Jacqueline (Carleton) at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Vernon Center on November 24, 1973. They farmed and were active in community, school and church, raising their seven children. Dave was an EMT and a member of the Vernon Center Fire Department for 22 years, receiving an award for an Act of Heroism in the Grain Elevator Explosion in October 2005.

He was a member of the Amboy Snowbirds Snowmobile Club, Valley Vans Van Club, Blue Earth County Pork Producers, Minnesota Cattlemen's Assn, and the Blue Earth County Corn and Soybean Growers.

Dave and Jacque were foster parents through Blue Earth County to over seventy children since 1992.

An absolute people person, Dave loved to sing Karaoke, visit with people, ride snowmobile and motorcycle. He took many long distance rides across the United States.

He enjoyed collecting and restoring toys, bicycles, cars and boats.

David is survived by his wife, Jacque; daughter, Johanna (Aaron) Hislop, of Rochester; son Alan (Holly) Noy of Vernon Center; daughter, Carole (Joey) Morey of Menlo Park, CA; daughters, Mariah and Ava, sons, Jonathan and Benjamin, all of Vernon Center and three grandchildren, Bode and Courtney Hislop, and Alessandra Morey. He is also survived by his parents, William and Shirley Noy of Vernon Center; sisters, Connie (Jeff) Hackett of Sioux City, IA; Janel (Wayne) Hoffman of Mankato; and Lynn (Dave) Bartsch; and brother Robert (Sanda) Noy of Vernon Center, along with many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Al and Til Noy of Vernon Center and Elmer and Agnes Borneke of Madison Lake.
