Theodore A. "Ted" Baumann, age 78 of Mankato, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary with a 4:00 p.m. prayer service.
Ted was born on November 10, 1929 to Irvin and Mabel (Austerland) Baumann in Kenosha, WI. He graduated from Kenosha High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Mary Guenther on July 21, 1952 in Windom, MN. He worked for Kato Engineering, Pass, Rockey, and Church Architects, and Mankato Corp, where he retired after 30 years. Ted was the Assistant Chief of the Rescue Squad in Mankato, a member of the MAHA Hockey Board, safety council, and the Camping Club. He was an EMT and taught for the Red Cross. He especially enjoyed camping and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Baumann of Mankato; daughter, Katherine (Will) Fluegel of Maple Grove; son, Michael (Diane) Baumann of Madison Lake; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Lenora) Baumann of Kenosha, WI; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mort Baumann; and brother, Richard.
