Robert Allan Farley Jr., age 40 of Madison Lake, died at his home on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, surrounded by his family. He has won his race and is enjoying his final victory in heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Friday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Donald Moldstad and Rev. Daniel Basel officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 " 8 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and from 3:00 p.m. until time of the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mt. Olive School and MVL High School.
Bob was born on May 25, 1964 to Robert and Nancy (Longston) Farley in DeKalb, IL. He grew up in Phillips, WI, where he and his two brothers, Matt and Tom, had an adventurous childhood full of northwoods fun and water skiing on the lake. Bob graduated from Phillips High School in 1982 and earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from U of M in 1988. His battle with cancer started in 1982, resulting in a below the knee amputation. He carried on his fathers business representing Phillips Plastics. From there, he formed Farley Group, LLC and was blessed with tremendous professional satisfaction.
Bob was united in marriage to Marie Eppeland on October 13, 1990 and lived in Wisconsin for 11 years. Their marriage was blessed with three wonderful children, Lauren, Michaela, and Samuel, whom are all blessed with specific characteristics from him that will always live on, Lauren, her calm temperament, Michaela, her big heart of love and brown eyes, and Samuel, his beautiful mind.
Bob was diagnosed with colorectal cancer six and a half years ago. He beat every odd the doctors gave him and made every day a gift from God. His unwavering faith will serve as a reminder of the one thing that is most important in life. Well see you in heaven, Bobits just a blink of an eye . Love you forever.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marie; three children, Lauren, Michaela, and Samuel Farley all of Madison Lake; parents, Robert and Nancy Farley of Bonita Springs, FL: brother, Matthew (Maribeth) Farley of Lutsen, MN; sister-in-law, Christine Wippermann of Milwaukee, WI; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Myrna Eppeland; grandmother, Ruth Eppeland; two sisters-in-law, Chris (Dr. Steve) Pitcher, Vonnie (Dan) Gratz all of St. James, MN; brother-in-law, Roy (Connie) Eppeland of Texas; nieces and nephews, Hunter, Andy, Gavin, Austin, Morgan, Alex, Erik and Aaron; aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course, Vinnie, Bobs loyal canine namesake that won over his heart.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas; grandparents, Bernard and Irene Farley, Herbert and Etta Longston; and his partner in cancer, Grandpa Karl (Bunn) Eppeland.
