Mildred Thomas Smith, age 87, of North Mankato and formerly of Lake Crystal, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Mankato Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cambria Presbyterian Church, Cambria, MN with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Cambria Presbyterian Church or to an organization of the donors choice.

Mildred was born on September 20, 1917 in Mankato to Milo and Florence (Culp) Johnson. She married John R. Thomas on June 8, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. They made their home near Cambria on a farm, where Mildred was a homemaker for her family. John died May 24, 1977. She married Robert Smith on October 25, 1980 in Mankato. They resided near Judson.

Mildred was a member of Cambria Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary of Cambria, Oak Grove Cemetery Association, and Crystalettes Band. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Smith of North Mankato; daughters, Patricia (LeRoy) Mansson of Winston Salem, NC, Janet (Marlan) Pitts of Lake Crystal, Linda Thomas of Lake Crystal; Sheila Wacker of New Ulm; step-children, Duane (Marna) Smith of Ham Lake, Arnold (Joann) Smith of North Mankato, Ray (Ona) Smith of Nicollet, Del (Valarie) Smith of North Mankato, Marilyn (Pat) Biedsheid of Mankato; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcella Aerts of Willows, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Arleen; and sister, Margaret.
