Les K. Hanson, age 97, of Bloomington and formerly of Mankato and Owatonna, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Friendship Village in Bloomington.
An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Paul Meierding officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Les was born November 27, 1907 in Ellendale to Samuel and Julia (Jacobson) Hanson. He graduated from Mankato High School and worked in the family service station business. He later owned and operated several service stations and truck stops in Southern Minnesota. In May of 1928, he married Margaret D. Brockmeyer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. They lived in Mankato, moved to Owatonna in 1970, and to Bloomington in 1994.
Les had been active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato and St. Johns Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He had been involved with the American Oil Association and the Mankato and Owatonna Lions Clubs.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Dale (Carol) Hanson of Albuquerque, NM, Perry (Lynn) Hanson of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Samuel (Mirja) Hanson of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Warren Brockmeyer of Mankato; nieces and nephews. Les was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret in 1999; two sisters; and four brothers.
