Joyce C. Kelley, age 70, of Madison Lake, died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Judson. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m., Sunday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ISJ Hospice Program.
Joyce was born on November 4, 1934 in Judson to Frank and Clarine (Gosch) Brown. Joyce was a 1952 graduate of Mankato High School, and also a graduate of Mankato Business College with a degree in book keeping. She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Kelley on July 16, 1955. They lived in Mankato, where they owned and operated Mankato Dental Arts for several years. They also purchased a hobby farm outside of Mankato and raised sheep. Joyce then worked for Coloplast and Alwyn in quality control. She most recently worked with her brother, Ron Brown at Confident Dental Lab to help start up his business in Minneapolis. Joyce was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, and was involved with Art Club, Money Club, and various Card Clubs. She made several stuffed dolls, animals, and Raggedy Anns to put smiles on childrens faces and donated them to Toys for Tots, Immanuel-St. Josephs Pediatric Dept., Theresa House, and the CADA House. Joyce loved crafts, sewing, painting, biking, golfing, gardening, and spending quality time with her family. She was a true artist at everything she did. Joyce lost her battle with brain cancer but put up an extreme and courageous fight. She will now be at peace and become our guardian angel to look over us forever.
Joyce is survived by two daughters, Sheila Kelley and her husband, Jerome Bykonen of Mankato, Leah Hansen and her husband, Daniel of Madison Lake; two sons and their wives, Michael and Jennifer Kelley of Mankato, Bradley and Anita Kelley of New London-Spicer; grandchildren, Benjamin and Anna Kelley of Mankato, Ryan Tracy of Mitchell, SD, Joshua Kelley and his wife, Nikki, Jarrod Kelley and his wife, Melisa, and Janell Kelley all of New London-Spicer area, Kate Farnham of Mankato, and Andrea Lawrence of Madison Lake, Jeremy Hansen and Andy Hansen of Mankato; great-grandchildren, Kelby Tracy, McKenna Kelley, Alysa and Hunter Kelley, Nicholas, Jeremy Jr., Jordan, and Austen Hansen; sister and her husband, Lois and Michael Rosin of Mankato; three brothers, Ralph Brown and his significant other, Gloria Rogers, of Eugene, OR, Ron Brown of Moundsview, Rick Brown and his wife, Terri of Judson; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Michel of North Mankato and Fran Trudeau of Mankato; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 1996; granddaughter, April Rose; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
We will miss her but she will remain in our hearts forever!
