Victoria F. Afolayan, age 52 of Mankato, died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday (February 26, 2005) at Hillside Assembly of God Church (502 Victory Drive " Mankato) with Rev. Kevin Gunion officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Memorials of love may be given in lieu of flowers. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Victoria F. Afolayan was born on January 10, 1953 to Jacob (Babalola) and Rachel (Adegbenle) Owolabi in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, Nigeria. Victoria attended St. Clares Grammar School in Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria. She was united in marriage to Johnson Afolayan on December 26, 1972 in Omu-Aran, Nigeria. She graduated from MSU with a B.S. degree in nursing and from Brainerd Community College with a RN associate degree. Victoria was a naturalized U.S. citizen. She worked as an RN at Oaklawn Health Care Center from February 1997 - 2004. She enjoyed sewing, music, photography, bible study, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Victoria is survived by her husband, Dr. Johnson Afolayan of Mankato; two sons, Gideon and Gabriel Afolayan of Mankato; one brother, Rev. Dr. Isaac and his wife, Abigail Owolabi of Ashville, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Bose Owolabi Fatigun of Nigeria, three nieces, Eunice Owolabi, Foluke and Grace Fatigun; six nephews, Wale Oni, Seyi Oni, Tolu Oni, Kolade Owolabi, Mark Owolabi, and Caleb Owolabi,; cousin, Noah Olanrewaju;.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
