Raymond Ray J. Hanson Sr., age 91, formerly of Lake Crystal, died Monday, February 14, 2005 at Friendship Manor in Shakopee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. TODAY with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Lake Crystal Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
Raymond John Hanson was born on February 6, 1914 in Fenton, Iowa to Christopher and Mary (Gappa) Hanson. He married Evelyn Mae Bennett on April 15, 1936 in Madelia. Ray farmed for many years in the area. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal, Knights of Columbus 109 of Mankato, and the Lake Crystal Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, bowling, traveling, and making outdoor Christmas Decorations for his home in Lake Crystal.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (Al) Giese of Coon Rapids, Linda Hanson of Prior Lake, Vicki Hanson of New Prague; two sons, Raymond Jr. (Jean) Hanson of Apple Valley, Richard (Pat) Hanson of Hilton Head Island, SC; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Lloyd of Lake Crystal, Mae (Al) Kjos of North Mankato, and Mathilda Fanning of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn in 1999; and a granddaughter, Tracy Hanson.
