Glen Roger Walker, age 79, of rural Lake Crystal, died Friday, February 11, 2005 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Art Sienstra and Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 " 5 p.m., Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
Glen R. Walker was born October 18, 1925 to Virgil and Ella (Hillmer) Walker in Mankato. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1942. Glen served his country
in the United States Marines Corps. as a Corporal with the Amphibian Tractor Bn in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. He was united in marriage to Arlene Joycelyn Hughes on October 13, 1946 in Cambria Federated Church. Glen farmed until 1960, then worked with Moormans Feed Co. for nine years, and then with 3M in New Ulm from 1968 " 1987 until he retired. He was a member of Carmel Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee and elder until it dissolved. Glen was a current member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, the Lake Crystal American Legion Post # 294, and the Marine Corps. Assoc. He enjoyed his sons softball games in younger years, was an avid reader, gardening, his dogs, and time with Marine Corps. reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of rural Lake Crystal; three sons, Bradley (Karen) Walker of North Mankato, Randon Walker of St. Paul, Roderick Walker of Lake Crystal; six grandchildren, Tricia, Jeffrey, and Jillian Walker, Jessica Rasmussen, Jodi Walker, Jeremy (Mandi) Walker; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Beth Walker and Judson John Walker; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hughes of Lake Crystal; a niece, Terri Henning of Lake Crystal.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
