Irene Glades Stoffel, age 84, of North Mankato, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Northview. Private family interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in St. Clair. Memorials may be given to Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato Hospice.

Irene was born on December 9, 1927, in St. Clair. She was the daughter of Carl and Selma (Rosenthal) Kruse. Irene was a graduate of St. Clair High School and attended the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Jerome Stoffel in Mankato on November 22, 1947. Irene was a Personnel Manager at Woolworth's in Mankato for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Irene enjoyed gardening, bird watching, crafts, and especially time spent with her grandchildren.
Irene is survived by her four sons, Greg (Val) Stoffel of Kasota, Steve (Steph) Stoffel of North Mankato, Kevin Stoffel of Hackensack, and John (Kristy) Stoffel of North Mankato; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Betty) Kruse of Wells; two sisters, Verna Moore of Minneapolis and June Honisch of Washington; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome in 1973; granddaughter, Kandyce Stoffel; two brothers, Erve and Lester; and a sister, Esther.
