Georgene Viona Queen, age 87, of Lake Crystal died Monday, September 17, 2012 at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, October 12 at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Private family burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
Georgene was born August 24, 1925 to George E. and Nora A. (Larson) Ballard in Lake Crystal. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1943 and later Mankato Commercial College. She was united in marriage to Ronald B. Queen on March 10, 1943. Georgene was employed by the Campfire Girls in Mankato, the City of Lake Crystal, and as a secretary for the 1st Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its ZLCW and Mission Circle and also the American Legion Post 294 Auxiliary. Georgene and Ronald wintered in Pharr, Texas for many years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, needlepoint, dancing, camping, and playing cards.
Georgene is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ronald; two daughters, Connie (John) Davis of Nevis, MN and Patricia Queen Jordheim of Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren, Kara (Aaron) Mullen of Cottage Grove, Blake (Amy) Davis of St. Paul, Jill (Jared) Whitehouse of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Jared (Brianna) Jordheim of Omaha, NE, and Joy Jordheim of Denver, CO; eight great-grandchildren, Khrystiyan, Kyleigh, and Gunnar Mullen, Cedar and Ivy Davis, Ava Whitehouse, Noelle and Nora Jordheim; sister, Berneita Bill of Madelia; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Georgene was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sons.
