John O. Roberts, age 70, of Eagan and formerly of North Mankato, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at his home, after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Crossview Covenant Church, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at church on Wednesday. Burial will follow the service in Cambria Cemetery, Cambria, MN. A fly-in pancake breakfast will be from 9:30 " 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Mankato Airport, everyone is invited. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Wings Outreach Worldwide (www.wingsoutreachindia.org) or and organization of the donors choice.
John was born June 3, 1942 to Orval and Loraine (Evenson) Roberts in New Ulm. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Jane K. Kollmann on August 2, 1963 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal. John graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and later from Wichita State University with his Masters Degree. John had multiple occupations throughout his life - pilot, professor, farmer, realtor, and FAA Examiner. He was a past member of Evangelical Covenant Church, now Crossview Covenant Church. John and Jane lived over 30 years in the Mankato area and for the past 9 years in Eagan. John enjoyed flying and farming, his work and love. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife, Jane of Eagan; three daughters, Julie Roberts (Eric Sloane), Jill Toliver (Jerald Moore), and Jackie Thelemann (Gary Frechette) all of Eagan; nine grandchildren, Jaxon, Terasita, Olivia, Annie, Lindsey, Malia, Cloe, Connor, and Camille; brother, Bob (Vickie) Roberts of Havasu, AZ; sister, Darlene Roberts of Lake Crystal; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Charles) Robinson, Sandy (Dean) Meixell, Barb Roberts all of Lake Crystal; two aunts, Geraldine Roberts and Maurine Hage; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brad (Karen) Kollmann, Steve Kollmann, and Judy (Bill) Lloyd; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
