Lyle Lorne Jones, age 90, of Madelia, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service Tuesday at the church Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery, rural Lake Crystal. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lyle was born August 20, 1922 to Roger D. and Ida (Owens) Jones in Judson Township, Blue Earth County. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1942 and attended Mankato Commercial College. Lyle was united in marriage to Doris M. Roberts on April 9, 1945 in Cambria. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy from 1945-46. Lyle farmed his entire life and also was employed by various companies over the years including, MN Valley Gas, LC Marlow, Carlstrom Construction, Lake Crystal Coop. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church where he was a past Elder. He was a member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge of Lake Crystal, the Shriner's for which he drove cars in many parades, a past member of the Lake Crystal School Board and Coop Board. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, repairing and tinkering with lawn mowers, spending time with his family, and spending time at the farm.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Doris of Madelia; two sons, Grant (Debra) Jones of Deadwood, SD, Burt Jones of Sint Maarten; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Miller of Mankato, Jason (Andrea) Jones of Andover, Steven (Abby) Jones of Coon Rapids, Scott (Katy) Jones of Hudson, WI, and Jennifer Jones of Rochester; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Helen Strusz of Anchorage, Alaska and Marion Sayler of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Roger Allen (Carol) Jones of Lake Crystal; nieces, nephews, and many extended family.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; son, Neil on July 11, 2012; two sisters, Dorothy Jones and Sal Oehler; and an infant brother.
