Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather Jerry Hagen, age 59, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at his home in Mankato from a heart attack.
Memorial Mass will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4:00 " 7:00 on Wednesday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Jerry was born in Rochester, MN on October 8, 1953 to Walter and Delores (Dauber) Hagen. He grew up in Mankato and was proud of his family history here. He attended Loyola High School, graduating in 1972 and then MSU Mankato, graduating in 1978. He married Lee Ann Sontag on June 24, 1978 in Mankato. He was the founder and owner of Mantronics Mailing Systems and his dream had been fulfilled with his children continuing to run the family business. He is a member and past president and secretary of the Mankato Sertoma Club where he organized the Children's Fun Fair for several years. He was also a member of the Mankato Elks Club and an original member of the Mankato Paddling & Canoe Club.
Jerry will be remembered for his friendly, outgoing personality; annual trips to the boundary waters where he was in charge of dehydrating and preparing the camp meals; being a great handyman; gardening - making his special Habanero pepper jelly and homemade horseradish; fishing; hunting and socializing with friends and family.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lee Ann; son Dan (Casey) of North Mankato and their children Haley, Jack and Abby; daughter Andrea (Elliot) of New Ulm; father Walter; sisters: Rose (Bruce) Cline, Linda (Dan) Phillips, and Bonita (Steve) Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Delores in 1987 and two infant sisters. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or donors choice.
