Aloysius Allie Anthony Haefner, age 81 of Mankato, died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. Karl Voelker, S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 " 8 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial plaque will be purchased for the ISJ Hospital.

Allie was born on October 29, 1923 in Eagle Lake. He was the son of Andrew and Anna (Hartung) Haefner. Allie was united in marriage to Bette Jane Sisson-Johnson on March 1, 1946 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. In his early years, he drove taxi, was a milkman, and worked at Nachbars Feed Store. Allie was a full-time farmer and also worked at Immanuel -St. Josephs Hospital for 30 years as a boiler engineer. Following his retirement from ISJ Hospital in 1999, he continued to enjoy his farming. Allie was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Mankato Moose Lodge. Allie enjoyed spending time with his family and mowing lawns. He also enjoyed playing cards, and was a member of the 500 card club, neighborhood card club, and Haefner card club. His hard work ethic and sense of humor will be missed.

Allie is survived by his loving wife, Bette of Mankato; twelve children, Pat (Roger) Berg of Rayville, MO, Mike Haefner of North Mankato, Jim (Kim) Haefner of Wabasha, Ken Haefner of Memphis, TN, Dianne (Earle) Traxler of LeSueur, Donna Anderson of Kasota, Karen (Bob) Kelley of Kasota, Ron Haefner (Lori Firle) of Mankato, Rick Haefner of St. Michael, Carolyn (Brad) Karstens of Mankato, Cliff Haefner (Tami Peterson) of Madison Lake, Mary Lou (Brian) Krenik of Mankato; 26 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Clem (Ann) Haefner of LeCenter, Valeria Frederick of Madison Lake, Tony (Phyllis) Haefner of Las Vegas, NV, Elfern Haefner of Mankato, Robert (Ida) Haefner of Mankato, Sylvester Haefner of St. Cloud, Simon (Joan) Haefner of Belle Plaine, and Anna Marie (Paul) Rohlfing of Cleveland; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Sharon; brother, Jerome; and sister, Barbara.
