Stanley W. Johnson, age 73, of Belgrade Township, rural North Mankato, died Monday, January 31, 2005, at his residence due to a farming accident.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 4, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donors choice.
Stanley was born on March 5, 1931 in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County. He was the son of Reuben and Helen (Nelson) Johnson. Stanley was united in marriage to Lorraine Mann on December 14, 1963 at Christ Chapel in St. Peter. He was a life-long farmer in Belgrade Township. Stanley also worked in road construction and later for the Mankato Post Office from 1966 to 1991. Stanley was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, Mankato VFW Post 950, and was a former 4-H member. He enjoyed traveling, farming, and music.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Lorraine Johnson; one brother and his wife, Marlin and Bonnie Johnson of Lake George; three brothers-in-law, Paul (Rene) Mann of St. Peter, Howard Mann (Gwen) of Lake Crystal, Lloyd (Sharon) Mann of North Mankato; family friend, Aline Mann; dear friend, Tom Goettlicher; also nieces and nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Elaine Mann.
