Betty Helen Abraham, age 71, of Lake Crystal, died Thursday, January 27, 2005 at her home.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday at the Lake Crystal Mortuary and continues one hour before services at church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to MAEOP or Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund. .


Betty was born August 31, 1933 to Charles and Helen I. (Raymond) Brandenburg in Luverne, MN. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1951. Betty married Richard L. Abraham on January 10, 1952. She worked as a secretary at Honeymead then at Lake Crystal National Bank and for over 30 years at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial School before retiring in May of 2001. She was selected as Educational Secretary of the year in 1998. Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Miriam Circle and past president of Zion Lutheran Church Women. She was a member of Minnesota Association of Educational Office Professionals (MAEOP) where she served on the executive board in various capacities and was a past recording secretary. She most recently served as elections chair person director of the national organization. Betty was also a member of the Lake Crystal American Legion Auxiliary Post # 294, the Draft Selective Service Board and the Red Hat Society. Betty enjoyed antiquing, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, and gardening.

Betty is survived by her husband, Richard Abraham; son, Greg (Janette) Abraham of rural Lake Crystal; daughter, Pam Abraham of Crystal, MN; grandson, Blandy Buchanan Spc. serving in Iraq; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Abraham and his special friend, Jean Borman of Brooklyn Center, MN, Milton (Joy) Abraham of Lake Crystal; one aunt, Eldora Schmuck of Morton, Washington; nieces, nephews, cousins and her faithful companion, her dog Libby.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Gayle.
