Douglas Patrick Griffiths, age 49, of Bloomington, formerly of Mankato, died Monday, January 17, 2005 at United Hospital in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2005 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. Charles Lachowitzer officiating. Private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Mankato Mortuary, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Douglas was born on December 20, 1955 in Mankato. He was the son of William and Agnes (Dittrich) Griffiths. Douglas was a 1974 graduate of Mankato West High School, and received a degree in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning from South Central Technical College. He was employed with Pameco Co. in Rochester for eight years and with Pameco/United Refrigeration for the past sixteen years. Douglas enjoyed hunting, watching sports, and loved fixing things. He lived his life with great simplicity, on his own terms, and died by those same terms.
Douglas is survived by his mother, Agnes Griffiths of Mankato; one sister, Kathryn (Brian) Ojanpa of Mankato and their children, John of St. Louis Park and Jordann of Alexandria; two brothers, Dan Griffiths and his special friend, Sandy Aho, of Shakopee and Dans children, Michael and Tommy of Eden Prairie, Patrick Griffiths of Mankato and his children, Sophie and Joe of Mankato; also aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill on June 28, 1998, and his grandparents.
