Hildegard D. Kuehne, age 96 of Mankato, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Nolting officiating. Committal service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary.

Hildegard Dorothy Kuehne was born April 18, 1908 to Pastor Emil and Maria (Zieger) Schulz in Bom Jesus, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She moved with her family to Germany in 1912 and to the United States in 1913. She graduated from Mankato Commercial College and worked in an office in Mankato prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage to Carl E. Kuehne in rural Brewster, MN, on September 19, 1928. Hildegard became a naturalized citizen of the United States on June 11, 1940 in Mankato. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato where she attended church regularly and participated in several of its organizations. Hildegard enjoyed homemaking and carrying out the responsibilities of a mother and grandmother. She remained physically active until the fall of 2004, frequently walking several miles in a day.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Emily) Kuehne of Winter Haven, FL, Clifford (Cordelia) Kuehne of North Mankato; a daughter, Eileen Dellwo of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1978, five sisters, three of whom died in infancy in Brazil, and one brother.
