Richard A. Chambers, age 83, of rural Good Thunder died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in his home after a brief illness.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2005 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato with Rev. Lisa Freedman officiating. The memorial service and burial will be at a later date in the family burial plot at Zion Presbyterian Church in Colfax County, Nebraska. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Born October 17, 1921 to Arthur and Francis Chambers in Ottawa Kansas, Richard attended Technical College and studied Broadcast engineering in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Olga E. Schultz on February 27, 1946 in California. He was in broadcasting for many years, first in radio in Omaha, Nebraska; Powell Wyoming; Helena, Montana and Lincoln, Nebraska, and then was a t.v. Broadcast engineer in Flandreau, South Dakota and in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he worked for KSFY for 27 years. After his retirement he and his wife moved to rural Good Thunder.
Survivors include a son, Richard E (Susan) Chambers of Good Thunder; daughter, Patrice (Edward) Murphy of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters Dorothy Berbich of Topeka, Kansas; Darlis Hahn of Black Hawk, Colorado; Carolee Ryan of Tucson, Arizona; Rosalie Smith (Robert) of Omaha Nebraska; four grandchildren, Christina (Matthew) Flaugher, Colin Chambers, Eddie Murphy Jr., Elizabeth Murphy and one great grandson, Keegan Chambers Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, one brother and grandson, Joel Murphy.
