Vera Sonnabend

Vera Marie Sonnabend, age 88, of Hutchinson, formerly of Good Thunder, died Monday, January 3, 2005 at Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Good Thunder. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Vera was born on December 19, 1916 in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was the daughter of Roy and Laura (Johnson) Meixell. Vera was united in marriage to August Sonnabend on January 2, 1937 in Lake Crystal. She was employed as a cook at Good Thunder Public School for 27 years. Vera was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, where she participated with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed sewing and needlework.

Vera is survived by three children and their spouses, Laurel Sonnabend of Cambridge, RuthAnn and Harvey Austin of Indianapolis, IN, Amy and David Larson of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sophie Abbott of Bloomington; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Doering of Mapleton, Muriel Meixell of Rogers, AR; also nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, August in 1997; one granddaughter, Brenda; one sister, Josephine Williams; two brothers, William and Howard Meixell; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Sonnabend.
