Rosalie McGowan, age 86, of Mankato passed away Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2004 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Entombment in Woodland Hills Mausoleum. Visitation 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church.
Mrs. McGowan was born February 20, 1918 in Comfrey, MN to Charles E. and Alvida D. (Johnson) Pedersen. She was a 1936 graduate of Mankato High School, and a 1940 graduate of Mankato State Teachers College. Rosalie was united in marriage to Ardin E. McGowan in April of 1941. She was employed for 23 years in Special Education at Union School and Lincoln School. Rosalie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a vocalist, and directed the childrens choir. She enjoyed playing the piano, ballroom dancing, and she loved to entertain.
Mrs. McGowan is survived by a daughter and her husband, Jane and Bob Maas of Pequot Lakes; a son and his wife, Michael and Betty McGowan of Zimmerman; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; also nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ardin in 1997; and three brothers.
