Ethel May Benedict, age 93, of Mankato, formerly of Mapleton, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2004 at Mankato Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Richard Salge officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery, Mapleton. Visitation one hour before services at the mortuary on Friday.
Ethel May was born May 25, 1911 in Janesville Township, Waseca County, Minnesota to Gustav and Olga (Quade) Blasing. She united in marriage to Page M. Benedict on August 16, 1933 at the parsonage in Janesville. Page died in 1973 in St. Paul. She was a homemaker and member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Mapleton. She enjoyed baby sitting and loved nature.
She is survived by a son, Dale (DeEtta) Benedict of Waseca; two daughters, Eva (Tom) Hughes of North Mankato, Mary Jane Bair of Mankato; son-in-law, Duane LeBrun of Redwood Falls; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Don Nienow of Mankato; two sisters-in-law, Sally Blasing, Verona Blasing both of Janesville; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a grandson, five sisters and four brothers.
