Helen Clara High, age 89, of North Mankato, died Monday, December 20, 2004 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Eagle Lake Church of Christ in Eagle Lake. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
Helen was born November 21, 1915 in Roseau, MN to August and Emma (Olson) Hedin. She grew up in the Roseau Community and moved to Chicago, IL in 1937, where she graduated from nurses training as a registered nurse. She worked as a registered nurse in Chicago until 1958. She was united in marriage to Chester High in Mankato on April 12, 1958. She worked as a registered nurse at Immanuel Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Eagle Lake Church of Christ.
She is survived by two children, Maynard (Yasuko) High of Scarsdale, NY and Lorraine (Robert) Swanson of Buffalo, MN; four grandsons, Kenji and Yoji High, Jeffrey and Steven Swanson; a sister, Verna (Frank) Lange of Meridian, ID; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Chester in 1990, five sisters and two brothers.
