Michelle was born on January 5, 1973 in Minneapolis and was just a few weeks short of her 32nd birthday. She was the daughter of Mike and Carol (Schlee) Kerkvliet of Coon Rapids. Michelle married Robert Bob Davis on August 19, 2000 and they made their home in North Mankato, MN.

Michelle has fought a battle with cancer most of the past four years and faced all the challenges with a courageous and optimistic spirit. Rather than dwell on her illness Michelle got on with her life. She decided to pursue her dream of a college education and her goal was to become a nurse. She worked very hard and would have received an Associates Degree (Science) on Saturday. Michelle and Bob and their family were active volunteers for the American Cancer Society, raising awareness and substantial funds for the organization.

Michelle was blessed with a large family and basked in the glow of their loving care, as they gathered around her the past weeks to comfort her and to say goodbye. Michelle was a warm person who was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was a caring and giving person who made many friends. We are all profoundly sad to see her leave us so soon, but Michelles sense of humor, hopeful spirit and zest for life will live on in all of us that knew her.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Davis of North Mankato; her parents, Mike and Carol Kerkvliet of Coon Rapids; two brothers, Tim and Sarah Kerkvliet and daughter, LillyAnne of Anoka, John and Julie Kerkvliet and daughters, Jenna and Jamie of Otsego; grandmother, Elizabeth Kerkvliet of Salem, S.D.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jim and Shirley Davis of Mankato; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Kari Davis of Chanhassen, Nancy and Todd Trautman of North Mankato, Tami Macrafic and husband, George Wullschleger of North Mankato, Rebecca and James Schreiner of Sauk Centre; 11 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved dog, Bailey.
