Alvin R. Zuehlke, age 82, of Mapleton died Friday, December 3, 2004 at St. Josephs Hospital, St. Paul.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Eagle Lake Church of Christ, Eagle Lake, with Pastor Jeff M. Peterson officiating. Burial in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Tuesday.
Mr. Zuehlke was born October 29, 1922 in rural Good thunder to John and Alma (Rosin) Zuehlke. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Ava Kump on November 4, 1944 at Bethany College Chapel in Mankato. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Jan. 1945 to Aug. of 1946. He worked for local farmers after returning from the service. Alvin then worked for Ramy Seed Co. and 35 ½ years for the Dotson Co. He was a member of Eagle Lake Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, camping and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Zuehlke; six children, Jeanne (Marlin) Peterson of North Mankato, Jeannette Tyge of Warrens, WI, Lawrence (Katherine) Zuehlke of Mankato, Gerald Zuehlke of rural Mapleton, Dorothy Zuehlke of rural Mapleton, Bonnie Zuehlke and special friend, Bruce Miller of Pemberton; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rena Larson of Eagle Lake; two brothers, Ed Zuehlke of Windom, Marvin (Lois) Zuehlke of Garden City; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Harold and Martin, and a sister, Elsa Blum.
