Viona Kruggel

Viona Lorena Selma Kruggel, age 80, of Good Thunder, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2004 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Good Thunder. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Viona was born on November 29, 1923 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was the daughter of Herman and Anna (Tischer) Schwantes. Viona attended Country School District 121 and St. Johns Lutheran School. She was united in marriage to Harold R. Kruggel on June 30, 1948 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. Viona was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, where she participated in the Ladies Aid. Viona enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Viona is survived by her husband, Harold of Good Thunder; one son, Ronnie and his wife, Diane, of rural Good Thunder; five grandchildren, Jamie Frank and her husband, Mike, and Jason, Jon, Jesse, and Jodi Kruggel, all of Good Thunder; also nieces, nephews, cousins, and Bear.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carlyle Schwantes and brother, Arno Schwantes; and two sisters, Elvera Doss and Elnora Busse.
