Ione I. Knudson, age 79, of Mankato, formerly of Cottonwood, MN died Friday, November 26, 2004, at her home.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Donald L. Moldstad officiating. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Committal service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Cottonwood with burial to follow in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, St. Lucas Lutheran Church, or Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Ione was born January 19, 1925 to Ludvig and Gertrude (Bly) Dahl in Cottonwood. She graduated from Cottonwood High School and attended the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Kay Knudson on July 12, 1947 at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Kay died May 13, 1986.
Ione was active in her church, as a choir member, a soloist, organist, and was involved in many church service groups and ladies aid in Christ Lutheran Church and St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. She had resided in Cottonwood for 77 years and spent her remaining years in Mankato as a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Her life was full even as she battled cancer. She enjoyed singing, playing piano, cards, crossword puzzles, baking, conversing on the phone, attending her grandchildrens activities, and spending time with special friends and her family.
Ione is survived by her four children, Beverly Fedje of Bettendorf, Iowa, Lon (Kathy) Knudson of Mankato, Kurtis (Donna) Knudson of Delano, Karolee (Dan) Lee of Dawson; 10 grandchildren, Rachel and Kara Fedje, Sara (Ben) Olson, Mark (Catherine) Knudson, Amanda and Amy Knudson, Emily and Katelyn Knudson, Justin and Andrea Lee; great grandson, Samuel Olson; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
