Janice Rae Peterson, age 57, of Mankato, died at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Andy Richie officiating. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until the service time at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Relay For Life " Mankato Chapter or ISJ Hospice.
Janice was born on August 7, 1951 to Marvin and Esther (Trojhan) Rost in Hartley, IA. She graduated from Hartley High School in 1969. In June 1969 she married Raymond Gamble. Born to this union were 2 sons, David and Michael. She lived in Mankato where she raised her sons. Jan was employed at a dental clinic and enjoyed so very much being a daycare provider for many years. In 1992 Jan moved to Kent, WA and was employed at a women's health club. In 1993 she was united in marriage to Steven "Pete" Peterson. Jan and Pete returned to Mankato in 2000. She was employed at Masterpiece Studios as a Customer Care Representative until May 2008. The last 3 months her life was surrounded by the excellent care of her husband, family, friends, co-workers and hospice. Jan enjoyed being outdoors, ice fishing, motorcycling, flowers, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to enjoy the fond memories of Jan are her husband, Pete of Mankato; two sons, David (Melissa) Gamble of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Gamble of Independence, MO; grandson, Christopher Gamble of Marysville, GA; former daughter-in-law, Lita Gamble of Marysville, GA; father-in-law, Clayton Peterson of Lafayette, MN; brother-in-law, Glenn (Tamara) Peterson of Boone, IA; sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Wayne) Jorgensen of Seattle, WA and Cindy (Gayln) Schmobrich of New Ulm; aunts, Eunice (Bob) Baird of Spirit Lake, IA and Lillian Klinker of Hartley, IA; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Rost in 1995; and mother-in-law, Phyllis (Sal) Peterson.
