Lyle Johnson

Lyle Johnson, age 94, of Lake Crystal died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at his home in Lake Crystal.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Debbie King Quale, officiating. Burial will be Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Friday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lyle was born March 24, 1914 in Lake Crystal to Joseph and Emily (Cochran) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Nietzel on April 6, 1937 in Algona, IA. Lyle was a farmer in the Lake Crystal area and also worked at Land O Lakes until it's closing, and retired from Kraft Foods in 1979. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal. He enjoyed bowling and wood working.

Lyle is survived by his children, Kathryn Sargent and husband Donald Herrick of Coon Rapids, Richard (Betty) Johnson of Fridley, and Joel Johnson of Zimmerman; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arlo (Vernette) Johnson of New Ulm, and August (Alice) Johnson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Vivian Johnson of Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn in 1995; siblings, Hannah, Josephine, Clifford, Lester, George, Catherine, and Almeda.
