Della Halter, age 88 of Mankato, died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Laurel's Edge in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2008 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Mariano Valera IVE and Rev. Syl Brown officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5 " 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Della Halter was born November 7, 1919 to Charles and Alice (Kliemann) Lundgren in Judson, Minnesota. She united in marriage to Leo Halter on February 2, 1944. She lived her entire life the Mankato area. Della's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, reading, and telling a good joke. She had a green thumb with her houseplants and flowers. She was very proud of the beautiful porcelain dolls she had made. Her smile, laughter, quick wit, and good nature will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Virginia Weiss of San Antonio, TX, Duane (Cathy) Halter of Andover, MN, Ted (Connie) Halter of Hemet, CA, and Mary (Don) Brau of Inver Grove Heights, MN; grandchildren, Alicia (Mike) Holder, Kelli (Scott) Amell, Kris (Aaron) Maixner, Tim Bertrand, Nic (Stacie) Brau, Chris (Genevieve) Brau, and Betsy (Matt) Smith; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck Lundgren of Mankato; Hector Seys who was her very special and caring friend; Luanne Seys who was like a daughter to her; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the loving and caring staff of Laurel's Edge who were Della's "second family" for the past six years.
Della was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; parents, brother, Gus Lundgren, and grandson, Joe Weiss.
