Harlan Robert Hintze, age 86, of Eagle Lake, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Autumn Grace in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008 with a 5 p.m., prayer service at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service on Wednesday.
Harlan was born January 31, 1922 to Charles and Lydia (Nyquist) Hintze in St. Clair. He moved to Mankato in 1926, then to Judson in 1939, and to Courtland in 1941. He served his country during WWII from 1942-46 with the U.S. Navy. He returned from service and went to work for Schnobrich Butcher in New Ulm as a meat cutter. He was united in marriage to Loretta Teynor on January 28, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD. They moved to Mankato in 1953 and Eagle Lake in 1954 where he was employed by Skelgas in Eagle Lake. Harlan was employed in 1956 by Archer Daniels then Hubbard Milling, retiring in 1984. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a Lifetime member of the Eagle Lake American Legion Post 617, member of VFW Post 950, and a former member of the Eagle Lake Fire Department. Harlan enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Loretta; son, Robert T. Hintze and wife, Monica of Eagle Lake; daughter, Mariann Guentzel of Emily; five grandchildren, Tamie Lorentz and husband, Doug, Shelly Guentzel, Chris Hintze, Lisa Hammond and husband, Jason, and Lana Hintze; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, and Cody Lorentz, Alyssa, Kaylee, and Anna Hammond.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; three brothers; and three sisters.
