Francis H. "Fran" Sorensen, age 84, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at his home in rural Lake Crystal.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, Lake Crystal, MN, with Rev. Debbie King Quale officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2008 at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Tuesday.
Francis was born April 28, 1924 to Lars and Rea (Hart) Sorensen in Lake Crystal. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1942. He was united in marriage to Joyce A. Duffey on June 9, 1943 at the Methodist Parsonage in Madelia. Francis was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Crystal-Loon Lake Recreation Club, Madelia Golf Course, Lake Crystal Lions Club, Lake Crystal Recreation Center, Minnesota Corn Growers Association, and many other local area civic groups. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, wood crafting, and researching his family's genealogy. Francis was a regular contributor to the early morning coffee club in Lake Crystal. He loved to travel and wintered in McAllen, Texas for over 20 years making many friends.
Francis is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lake Crystal; three children, Darwin (Noel) Sorenson of Lake Crystal, Linda (Larry) Haugen of Hampton, MN, Doug (Becky) Sorenson of Eagle Lake; son-in-law, Darrell Anderegg of Eagle Lake; nine grandchildren, Jared (Kristina) Sorenson, Joel Sorenson, Jennifer (Kyle) Grenz, Jon Sorenson; Martha, Nick, and Charlie Sorenson, Ashley and Mitchell Anderegg; four great-grandchildren, Robbie, Rachel, Reagan, and Rinnah Sorenson; nieces, nephews, and cousins including several in Denmark.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Lillie; brother, Paul during World War II; and daughter, Lori June Anderegg in 1996.
