Doris Christensen

Doris K. Christensen, age 90 of Mankato, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4 " 6 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before the service on Thursday.

Doris K. Christensen was born December 23, 1913 to Frank and Carrie (Kroll)Wandersee in Lime Township, Blue Earth Co., Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Jens R. Christensen on May 1, 1945 in Mankato. Doris worked for Mankato State ARA Food Service for 11 years and Gustavus Adolphus College for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Cereal Chapter # 2 of the Eastern Star, and VFW # 950 Auxiliary. Doris enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, and
Lawrence Welk.

Doris is survived by four grandchildren, Douglas (Maureen) Newton of Stockbridge, GA, Vickii (Kenneth) Pankow of MI, Denise Newton of Moscow, ID, Jim (Lisa) Newton of Madison Lake; six great grandchildren, Adam and Megan Newton, Mikael and Ethan Newton, Kristen Angier and Natalie Pankow; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband; son, Gene; grandson, Lawrence Newton, four brothers and four sisters.
