Renata H. (Wiechmann) Beschnett age 101, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Mankato Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Renata H. (Wiechmann) Beschnett was born in LaCrescent, MN on January 25, 1903 to Rev. Fredrick and Bertha (Stuemke) Wiechmann. She was baptized and confirmed by her father. She attended Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, and continued her college education there, graduating in 1922. She taught in Christian Day Schools in West Bend, West Salem and Madison, Wisconsin. From 1952 to 1968, she taught at St. John Lutheran School in Good Thunder. Renata married William Beschnett in 1926. They lived on the home farm near Good Thunder.
Renata possessed a strong Christian faith, and was active in many church groups over the years, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and was a member of Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and prayer groups. She loved family gatherings, and spent many summers entertaining relatives who came to spend their vacations on "the farm". Renata lived on the farm until she was 99. She then moved to Sibley Manor, and has spent the last year in the Mankato Lutheran Home.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Derald Beschnett of Higginsville, Mo., Dr. William (Phyllis) Beschnett of Waseca; two daughters, Marilyn (Vern) Tappan of LeSueur, Carol (Dale) Wingen of Good Thunder; 12 grandchildren, Teresa Beschnett, Murray Beschnett, Angela Wiebush, Steven Erickson, Dr. Robert Erickson, Mark Erickson, Craig Wingen, Jayne Harvey, Neal Wingen, Christine Keith, William Beschnett III, Anne Beschnett; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anita Meyer of Encino, CA; a brother, Edgar Wiechmann of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, eight brothers and sisters, a son-in-law and a daughter in-law.
