Harold W. Olsen, age 80, died Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Mankato House Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake with Rev. David Beckstrom officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Harold was born June 1, 1924 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Christ and Wilma (Sorenson) Olsen. He graduated in 1941 from high school in Frederic, Wisconsin and served in the US Army. On May 9, 1945, he married Alice Rose Brummund in Wheaton, Illinois. They lived in Minneapolis and Denver, Colorado before moving to Mankato in 1971.

In Mankato, Harold and Alice created and built their own business " Olsen Delivery Inc. After living in Eagle Lake for several years, and having been charter members of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Harold and Alice decided to retire and move south. They sold their successful Olsen Delivery business, and in 1996 moved to their beloved home on the Mississippi River in Lansing, Iowa.

After 55 years of marriage, his wife, Alice, passed away on October 8, 2000 in Lansing, Iowa. In the spring of 2001, Harold returned to the Mankato area and lived at North Point Assisted Living for three years, where he had many friends and was prominently featured in their newspaper and television advertisements. Since July of 2004, Harold has resided at Mankato House Health Care Center.

Harolds favorite pastimes over the years have included fishing, traveling with Alice in their motorhome, spending time and playing cards with his family and friends, and being a helpful friend to everyone he met. Harolds friendly personality and sincere interest in helping others was well known and appreciated by all of his many friends.

Harold is survived by a son and his wife, Steve and Natalie Olsen of Apple Valley; a daughter and her husband, Jean and Tom Burdick of Prior Lake; six grandchildren, Kendra, Lucas, and Kaylee Olsen, Scott, Stephanie and Kelli Burdick; a brother, Roy Olsen of Siren, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a granddaughter, a sister, a brother, and a niece.
