Sister M. Solana Soler, School Sister of Notre Dame, age 91, died October 8, 2004, at Good Counsel Convent, Mankato, Minnesota. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Good Counsel Chapel, with Fr. Tim Biren as celebrant. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Good Counsel, with Vespers in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is also one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge.

Sister M. Solana (Helen Soler) was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on September 19, 1913, to Julius and Clara (Capaul) Soler. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1937 and took First Vows in 1940. For almost 50 years, she did domestic work in convents in Minnesota, Iowa, and North Dakota. In 1998 she came to Good Counsel where she continued in community service as long as her health permitted.

Sister M. Solana is survived by four sisters, Sister M. Claire of Good Counsel, Theresa Jungwirth of Oakdale and Genevieve Mulally and Odilia Conlon and her brother Luke all of St. Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her sisters, Cecelia Soler and Sister Mary Alma, SSND, and by her brothers Lawrence and Leonard.
