Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Lake Crystal. Lake Crystal Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Elnora was born January 29, 1913 on a farm near Searles. She was the tenth of eleven children born to William and Esther (Backer) Hamann. They were children of pioneer German settlers of Brown County, MN, who came to Minnesota in the mid 19th century. Elnora went to country school, but only after her brothers and sisters taught her to speak English. She made it through the 8th grade, but then had to go to work because there were to many mouths to feed. Elnora then moved with her parents to New Ulm as a teenager and married Virgil Davis on February 2, 1931. They moved to Lake Crystal, where Virgil was in the plumbing business for many years. He died in 1977. Elnora was blessed with good health until this past month. She has remained in Lake Crystal, living in her own home on Humphrey St. since Virgils death. She has stayed active with her large garden, and providing daycare for numerous children over the years, many of whom came to know her as another grandma. She, also, worked at the Northrup King corn plant for many seasons. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal and an avid Minnesota Viking football fan. She was a feisty independent woman, whose spirit lives on in all of us who called her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We will miss her very much.
Elnora is survived by her two sons, Oryle (JoAnn) Davis of Medford, James (Shirley) Davis of Mankato; eight grandchildren, Deborah Ward of Jacksonville, FL, Bruce (Char) Davis Montgomery, Steve (Amanda) Davis of Glencoe, John (Kari) Davis of Chanhassen, Becky (James) Schreiner of Sauk Centre and Nancy (Todd) Trautman, Tami (George) Wullschleger and Bob (Michelle) Davis of North Mankato; 15 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded death by husband, and 10 siblings.
