Erma (Lewis) Valine, age 96, of Owatonna and formerly of the Judson, Lake Crystal, and Cambria area, died Monday morning, October 4, 2004 at Infinia of Owatonna.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2004 at Cambria Presbyterian Church in Cambria with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Cambria Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before services at church on Friday. Lake Crystal Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Erma was born September 8, 1908 in Cambria Township to Edwin and Lena (Pladsen) Lewis. She attended and graduated from Lake Crystal High School and Mankato Teachers College. She taught in Cass Lake, Cohasset, Mass., Country School #10 of Cambria, Judson, and Lake Crystal. Erma retired in 1972. Besides living in the Judson and Cambria area, she had resided for a period of time in Boston, Massachusetts area. She had been an active member of the Cambria Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing bridge. In August of 1997, she moved to Woven Hearts in Owatonna to be near her daughter. Erma enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and traveling in the continental United States, Europe and Hawaii.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Judie Valdivia and her husband, Joseph of Owatonna; two grandsons, Navy Lt. Christopher Valdivia and wife, Jennifer and their daughter, Gabriella of Pine Island, MN, Lt. Jamie Valdivia and wife, Gloria of Pace, Florida; a nephew, Donald Lewis and his wife, Florence, of Cambria; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a niece.
