Irene Karels, age 84 of Lake Crystal died Friday, October 1, 2004 at the Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. James Holthus officiating. Burial in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Tuesday.
Mrs. Karels was born May 14, 1920 in Alcester, SD to Henry and Kate (Hults) Meinjohans. She was united in marriage to Arend Karels on May 25, 1940 in Blue Earth, MN. Irene was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal and was a active member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Karels is survived by two sisters, Carrie Westling of Alcester, SD, Ella Ganskot of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
