Dale M Rice

Dale M. Rice, age 83 of Waseca formerly of the Granada area died Friday morning, October 1, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Albert Lea.

Memorial Services 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Garden City Christian Church in Garden City, with Rev. Daniel A. Sanford officiating. Burial in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Cancer Society, American Heart Assn or organization of the donors choice. Lake Crystal Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rice was born September 21, 1921 in Rochester, MN to John B. and Mary (Canny) Rice. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1940. He then attended Curtis-Wright Technical School in Santa Monica, CA. He entered the Air Force 50th Fighter Group on August 20, 1942. In the Air Force he received training as a mechanic, gunner and navigator. He was based in Kissimme, FL, Kerns, UT, Niagara Falls, NY and finally a year in Japan. He was honorably discharged on February 8, 1946 at Fort McCoy, WI.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Jeppesen in 1946. They farmed in Martin Co. near Granada for 40 years, retiring in 1995, when they moved to Waseca. Dale was active in Farm Bureau, Community Chest and was a charter member of the Granada American Legion Post #0319. He was a member of the Garden City Christian Church, until they moved to the Granada area. He was presently a member of the First Congregational Church in Waseca.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; a son, Jonn Rice of Rapidan; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Don Langseth of Bloomington, Bonnie and Michael Anthony of New Richland; three grandchildren, Kalisha, Orrie, and Bryanna Anthony; a sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Hatch of Long Beach, CA.

He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, a granddaughter, Renee Rice and a daughter-in-law, Ingrid Rice.
