Harlan C. Edwards, age 61, of rural Good Thunder, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Mankato Mortuary, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Cemetery, rural Amboy. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour before services on Tuesday.
Harlan was born February 18, 1943 to Emmett and Elna (Hicks) Edwards in Mapleton, MN. He attended Junior High School in Mapleton. Harlan enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 29, 1960 and served aboard the USS Douglas H. Fox until January 22, 1964. He transferred to the US Naval Reserve, inactive duty until July 28, 1966. Harlan married Sharon Speck of Good Thunder February 16, 1980. Over the years, Harlan worked for Fuller Construction of Amboy, with the 49ers (Iron Workers Union), VFW Lounge of Mapleton, Hansons Body Shop of Mapleton, H&R Lovall of Winnebago, Krengel Brothers of Mapleton, B&R Salvage of Beauford, Green Giant of Montgomery, and was a semi driver for Rapidan Elevator. For the last six years he worked at LeHillier Quick Mart, where he enjoyed meeting new friends and keeping in contact with many of his trucking buddies. Harlan was a life member of the VFW Post 4580 in Blue Earth. He enjoyed doing auto mechanics, working on his 1954 Ford, playing the lottery, and mostly he loved having coffee and visiting with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Emily Edwards of Mankato and her fianc, Jason Zuehlke; two daughters by previous marriages, Melanie (Mark) Anderson of Mankato, and Vickie (Chip) Merton of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Desiree and Roger; a brother, Francis Edwards of Eagle Lake; two sisters, Catherine (Wes) Yates of Claremore, OK, and Carolyn (Mark) Miller of Rochester; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
