Gerald P. Schueneman (Jay), age 70, of Mankato, MN died Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato with Revs. Richard M. Colletti and Francis P. Kunz officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

Jay was born February 4, 1934 in Janesville, MN to Otto and Ethel (Muellerleile) Schueneman. Jay graduated from Janesville High School in 1952. He played baseball for the Janesville City League. He served in the U.S. Army from September of 1953 to September of 1955. Jay was united in marriage to Adella (Della) Windschitl on May 4, 1957 in Leavenworth, MN. He graduated from Barber School in 1960. Jay owned and operated Toms Barber Shop for nearly 30 years. More recently he worked at Dans Barber Shop retiring in June of 2002.

Jay was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato and American Legion Post #11. He was a former member of the Janesville Sportsman Club. He was also an avid sports fan, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jay is survived by his wife, Della Schueneman of 47 years; five children: Jody Schueneman of Minneapolis, MN; Thomas Schueneman and wife, Becky Hebeisen of Mankato, MN; Ann Schmitz and husband, Carl of Mankato, MN; Richard Schueneman and wife, Karen Kringlie of Valley City, ND; Paul Schueneman of St. Peter, MN; seven grandchildren: Annabel and James Schueneman, Nick, Emily and Beth Schmitz, Rachel and Eliza Schueneman; a sister, Diane Tolzman of Tampa, FL and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Schueneman and sister, Sandra Wobschall.
