Robert Freeman Newville, age 53, died September 20, 2004 at his rural Kasota home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Robert was born August 8, 1951 in Fairmont to Freeman and Catherine (OConner) Newville. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1970 and attended Vo-Tech School in North Mankato. He served in the US Army from 1974 -1979 and was honorably discharged. On December 21, 1996, he married Susan Marie Hartle at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Robert owned and operated his own truck, worked for Lakeville Motor Express and Manske Bus Service.

Robert was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 518 of North Mankato. He was past adjutant for Post 518, was active with the State and District American Legion offices, and served as Chairman for the 2003 Third District National Security and Foreign Relations Committee. He enjoyed fishing, card playing, cooking, volunteering, and giving everyone a hand during their time of need.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of rural Kasota; four children, Jason (Taryn) Newville of Madison, WI, Jenna (Stacey) Cueto of St. Paul, Dawn Haubrich of Valentine, NE, Missy Haubrich of Mankato; four granddaughters; four brothers, Bill of Spicer, Mike and Tom of Fairmont, Jack of Welcome; two sisters, Mary Behr of Conger, Virginia Sukalski of East Chain; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
