Adeline Bartsch

Adeline K. Bartsch, age 93 of Mankato, died Friday, April 28, 2006 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday in Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James.

Adeline K. Bartsch was born May 21, 1912 in Edmunds County, SD to John and Christina (Spitzer) Lammle. They moved to Roscoe, SD when she was still a small child. She attended grade school and high school in Roscoe and went to Mankato for nurses training, graduating in 1936. She worked at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato until moving to St. James. On October 18, 1935, Adeline and Walter Bartsch were married in German language in St. Pauls Lutheran Church of Roscoe, SD by Pastor JP Scherf. They made their home in North Mankato. In May 1937 they moved to St. James. Adeline was a lifelong member of the St. James VFW Auxiliary, serving a term as President. She was also a very active member of her church auxiliary. In 1957 they moved to Gering, NE and to Columbus, NE in 1962. In 1975 Walt retired and they moved to New Ulm, where Adeline did volunteer work at Treasure House. They wintered in Apache Jct. AZ. In 1990 they moved to Mankato where Adeline volunteered at MRCI Thrift Shop and Bethany College. She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. She currently was residing at Primrose. Adeline loved company, plants, playing cards, and Thrift Stores. She always had coffee and cake ready.

Survivors include her four children, Darlene Dittrich of Leech Lake, Phyllis (Elray) Kenning of Mankato, Armond (Karen) Bartsch of Le Mars, IA and Johnelle (Lanny) Haglund of Butterfield; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are brothers, William (Martha) Lammle, Armond Lammle, and sisters, Leone Pickett and Merilyn (Gerald) Vielhaber and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Lydia Wolner and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
